Animatronic Nights Controls

Default inputs for Night Guards and animatronic killers on desktop and mobile.

Controls

Animatronic Nights builds on standard Roblox third-person controls with on-screen ability buttons tied to each animatronic or survivor kit. There is no separate PC client — every input runs through Roblox’s engine, which means some binds live in Roblox settings while others are fixed UI buttons inside the experience.

Use this page as a quick reference before matches. Pair it with Getting Started for lobby buttons and Survivor Tips / Killer Guide for when to press abilities, not just how.

PC / keyboard and mouse

Movement and camera

ActionDefault input
Move forward / back / strafeW A S D
JumpSpace
Camera rotateMouse movement
Zoom (Roblox default)Scroll wheel or I / O
Shift lock toggleShift (if enabled in Roblox settings)

Roblox Shift Lock helps killers track survivors during chases on keyboard. Enable it under Roblox → Settings → Shift Lock Switch if you prefer centered camera.

Interaction and abilities

Exact ability keys vary by character, but the UI follows a common pattern:

  • Left mouse button — primary action / attack on many killers
  • Number keys 1–4 or on-screen buttons — character abilities (depends on kit)
  • E or contextual prompts — interact with objectives when the game displays a prompt

Always read the ability icons on your HUD when trying a new animatronic from the shop. Update 40 Sun item set pieces may add passive slots — check tooltips in lobby loadout screens.

Lobby-only buttons (bottom toolbar)

Before you queue, the bottom bar includes shortcuts such as:

  • Play / queue
  • Shop
  • Emotes
  • Gift icon — opens code redemption (How to Redeem Codes)
  • Settings — audio and graphics within experience limits

The gift icon is not available mid-match — redeem UPD40 and other active codes from Codes Hub while in lobby.

Mobile / touch

Mobile players use a virtual thumbstick (usually left side) and ability chips along the right edge. Tips:

  • Increase Roblox button size in settings if mis-taps cost chases.
  • Use two thumbs — movement and camera drag simultaneously during loops.
  • Redeem codes by tapping the gift icon on the bottom bar; dismiss the keyboard before hitting Redeem.
  • Disable autocorrect when pasting codes.

Frame rate drops on low-end phones hurt killer reaction time more than survivors — lower graphics in Roblox settings if team fights stutter on Daycare Ruins.

Controller (if supported via Roblox)

Roblox maps gamepad sticks to movement and camera with face buttons for jump and actions. Animatronic Nights does not ship a published official layout — treat prompts on screen as source of truth. Reconnect the controller before launching the experience if inputs fail in lobby.

Audio controls

Proximity voice is core to horror mind games. Adjust Roblox voice chat and volume sliders so footsteps remain audible. Survivors in Survivor Tips rely on audio as much as visuals; killers use voice leaks to triangulate groups.

Graphics settings that affect gameplay

SettingRecommendation
Graphics modeAutomatic or lower on mobile for stable FPS
Camera sensitivityMedium — high sensitivity overshoots loops
Shift lockOn for keyboard killer mains
FullscreenReduces accidental desktop focus loss on PC

Roblox caps experience fidelity — you cannot mod FOV inside Animatronic Nights without violating Roblox Terms of Use.

Controls versus mechanics

Knowing inputs does not replace map knowledge. After you memorize buttons:

  1. Run one survivor drill on Maps practicing walk versus sprint noise.
  2. Run one killer drill committing only basic attacks until you learn movement speed.
  3. Spend Coins on one character with simple abilities before buying complex VHS killers covered in Killer Guide.

Accessibility notes

  • Roblox supports subtitles for platform UI; in-experience horror audio may still rely on visual ability telegraphs.
  • Colorblind players should pick high-contrast survivor skins when shopping with Coins from Earn Coins.
  • Touchpad-only laptops struggle with camera flicks — consider mouse or mobile for killer role.

Standard Roblox WASD for movement, Space to jump, and mouse to look around. Abilities use on-screen buttons or character-specific keys.
